With the aim of further strengthening intellectual and cultural linkages as well as creating and maintaining links among the academia, government, business community and civil society organisations of these two countries, India and Canada, Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute is initiating a discussion forum called ‘Focus Canada’. Focus Canada provides a platform for the acclaimed academics, diplomats, trade officers, government officials and research Heads to share insights about the socio-cultural, academic, political, economic and other aspects of Canada-India relations. This provides Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute a direction in setting up its objectives. In an effort to revitalize Shastri activities Prof.Sunaina Singh President of the Institute has initiated new programmes and has further revived relevant events such as ‘Focus Canada’ in India and ‘Focus India’ in Canada.

The President, Prof. Sunaina Singh, Shastri Indo- Canadian Institute will welcome and provide introduction to Focus Canada. Ambassador (Retd.) S.J.S.Chhatwal former High Commissioner of India in Canada is invited to chair and steer the discussions. She feels honored to welcome him to Chair as he had pioneered this programme.

The Focal Points for Discussion are:

  • Higher Education Agreement between India and Canada.
  • Industry, Trade, Commerce: Interface with Education.
  • Social and Economic Development.
  • Role of Indo-Canadians in furthering the objectives of “Focus Canada”.

We are expecting these dignitaries from Who’s Who of Delhi to participate in this Forum.
