The lecture entitled “Indian Foreign Policy: An outsider perspective (with reference to Canada)” was this year’s Shastri Lester Pearson Memorial Lecture and it took place at the S.P. Jain Centre at University of Delhi last Thursday, January 19th. Dr. David Malone is the President of the International Development Research Center since July, 2008.
This event took place on December 8 & 9 at the University of Montreal as part of the Shastri Engaging India Series. The conference was a great success due to the enthusiasm and participation of all its attendees. The conference was both an enriching and gratifying event.
The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute in association with the University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University and the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, organized a two-day conference on December 3-4, 2011, at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta entitled “Engaging Canada: A Multidisciplinary Conference” as part the ‘Engaging Canada’ series being organized by Shastri in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission, New Delhi.
As part the ‘Engaging Canada’ series being organized by Shastri in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission, New Delhi, the first of the two ‘Engaging Canada’ events took place at Pondicherry University. The event was geared towards student researchers and faculty members. The program was informative and very inspirational, provoking lively discussion and inquiry.
It was Shastri’s great privilege and pleasure to co-organize and facilitate the highly successful Alberta-Maharashtra Roundtable held on November 17th and 18th in Mumbai under the guidance of the Alberta Government’s Advanced Education & Technology Department.
On September 9th, 2011 the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission to India, launched Engaging Canada in India 2011-2012.
The Centre for Canadian Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata invites paper proposals for the International Conference on Canadian Studies – Demystifying the Urban: Borderlands of Canada and India to take place on February 1st-3rd, 2012.
It is Shastri’s great pleasure to welcome Dr. Braj Sinha as the New Shastri president for 2011-2012 who assumed his position as president at the 2011 Shastri AGM on June 19th. Dr. Sinha has served the Institute for numerous years as a member representative and a member of the Executive Council. His guidance and dedication to Shastri have been invaluable and we look forward to his leadership and support over the course of the next year.
