Collaborative Research Projects 2011-2013 (CLOSED)

The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute with funding support from the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI invites proposals for Collaborative Research Projects.

Applications from Indian and Canadian Shastri member institutions are welcome. Applicants are required to name a partner institution in the other country. The partner institution may or may not be a Shastri member.

The purpose of these projects is to fill information gaps for policy makers and others who influence policy-making processes. Grant applicants should demonstrate their ability to bring forward innovative ideas, as well as how they plan to share their findings with stake holders and at the grass roots level.

The intention behind the projects should be to promote awareness among students and the public in the areas of:

  • Environment Management
  • Economic development and Competitiveness
  • Trade, Democracy
  • Rule of Law
  • Human Rights
  • Managing Diversity
  • Energy
  • Public Health
  • Poverty Alleviation
  • Sustainable Development
  • India-Canada Relations
  • Gender Equality

Important: Please note that release of funds for this grant to successful recipients depends on the availability of funding from the Government of India

Value:

Rs.3 lakhs per year for two years

Duration:

Two Years

Eligibility:

Indian and Canadian Shastri member institutions are eligible to apply.

Application Requirements:

Please note that the Project Proposal must clearly address the feasibility of the proposed project being completed and the final report submitted within the stipulated time frame of two years commencing from the date of notification of the award.

As part of the Project Proposal please submit the following information electronically in a single document (Rich Text (RTF) or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format):

1. Project Title

2. Project Description:
a. Abstract: 200 to 300 words outlining the key objectives and proposed activities that would be supported by the requested funding

b. Proposal: 4 to 8 pages, double-spaced which are to include –

(i) an overview of the project noting key faculty involved, areas of specialization (publications, research focus, outreach activities, etc.), degrees or certificates offered by the school or department at which the project is to be based

(ii) a statement that identifies the goals and objectives of the project and describes the project design

c. Schedule: Recent and projected activities, including names of participants, names of all faculty members to be involved in the project, articles, monographs, and books published in the past year

d. Project Director/Coordinator Curriculum Vitae: 5 pages maximum

3. Principal Organizer:
Name of the organization that would be the grant recipient

4. Local and/or Canadian partner(s)

5. Target Audience

6. Expected Outcomes:
Publications in reputed journals, establishing links with private sector or civil society organisations, methods of information dissemination to stake holders, follow up developmental activities etc. (Please note this is an important criterion in the selection process)

7. Balanced Budget:
Detailed description and justification of anticipated expenses, as well as the disclosure of other funding sources, including funding from the institution itself
