To assist scholars to participate in conferences and academic meetings through travel subsidies.
The Shastri Institute will provide up to $1,200 to fund 50% of the scholar’s total travel costs (NB costs for visas, meals, per diem and accommodation are not eligible).
A total of $10,000 is available for these grants in 2009-2010.
Grants are available to Canadian scholars for travel to/and/or in India and to Indian scholars for travel to/and/or in Canada. Applicants must have been invited to participate by an academic institution and be affiliated with, or travelling to a Shastri Institute member institution. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of India or Canada.

E-mail submissions of applications must arrive at the Institute’s Canada Office by 4:30 p.m. Calgary time.
Applications should be submitted for a deadline at least ten weeks prior to expected date of travel. Travel must not be completed prior to the deadline.
A Selection Committee considers applications in accordance with appropriate procedures, guidelines and conditions.
A narrative report is required within four weeks of the visit. The narrative report should include a brief summary of activity, specific achievements and impact of activity in forging Canada-India knowledge exchanges and partnerships.
